Admissions & Enrollment

Chinese Summer Camp(CSC) is open to both undergraduates and graduate students at UNMC. Students wishing to have their coursework at CSC recorded as transferable academic credit should consult their Study Abroad Offer or Registrar at UNMC in the first instance.

Academic Credit

Our host university Xi’an International Studies University (XISU) will process transcripts for all CSC students. The transfer and application of academic credit is ultimately decided by students' home academic institution. Students should consult with your Study Abroad Office or Registrar prior to program participation:

    1) Whether or not your home institution will accept foreign credits;

    2) Check for any questions about how credits will transfer from XISU.

To assist in this process, we provide detailed course descriptions, contact hours, syllabi and recommended credits for individual courses. For more information, please go to the Curriculum & Syllabi page.

Before ULSC start date, you may need to request written pre-approval from XISU for credits you will earn abroad. After CSC is completed, your official transcripts will be released about 90 days after program completion to your home institution.

Students are responsible for arranging and purchasing their own transportation to and from Xi’an. Airfare and airport transfer costs are not included in the program fee. Participants should plan to arrive in Xi’an on Saturday, July 16, 2016 and depart by Sunday, August 14, 2016.

Chinese Visa: $30-140 USD

Passport and visa application fee varies according to student’s home country.

Cell phone & SIM card: 400-6100 CNY for phone; 100 CNY for SIM card

The phone price ranges from 300-6000 CNY. In China, students need to buy a SIM card with the telephone number and then buy 100 CNY replenishment cards to add time in order to be able to use their phone. There is no flat rate calling plans like those in the United States; students pay for the actual calling time. If they want overseas calling capability, it is more complicated and much more expensive. It’s better use Skype/Wechat/Whatsapp in China to minimize their phone fees.

Personal expenses: 800-3000 CNY/month (≈ 500-1800 MYR)

These will vary significantly according to the individual, but students should budget approximately 1500-3000 CNY for one month, which should still buy you that occasional night out or extra weekend trip.

**These figures are to be used as a guide as expenditures will vary depending on personal spending habits.
